Let’s Bunny Hop Away From Waste
The thought of Easter morning is giving me anxiety! Not because I’m worried about the bunny getting caught but because of the excessive amount of trash! Pretty much all kid centric celebrations these days create unnecessary waste. Unnecessary you say? But my kids just want to have fun! I know, I know and I totally agree… but also think we can do better and still have fun!! I’ve combed the internet and nailed down a few really simple ways to make an impact on the big day! Here are the top 3 I’m going to focus on.
1. Invest in a reusable Easter basket or use a small bag/basket you already have
Raffia fringed bag from Mignon
Basket and/or liners from Juju’s kids
Vintage placemat as a basket liner from Vintage Green Review
2. Use creative and/or sustainable toys for the baskets
Wooden make up toys at Mignon
Chalk eggs, magnifying glass, kaleidoscope at Magic Box Toys
Epiphany Throws recycled cotton bracelets, necklace and head band
Cardboard bunny figures at Judy at the Rink
3. Ditch the sweets in plastic packaging
Opt for freshly baked items like Sucre macaroons or Beth Biundo cookies and cupcakes
Alternatively just buy candy that comes in a cardboard box !
Scoop up candy in bulk and put in a paper bag
