Let’s Tawk

Can we talk about Nola Tawk?! Local? Check. Female owned? Check. Sustainable? Check! It’s a triple check threat! So, of course we were interested in learning more about this brand. On Fat Tuesday, we had the opportunity to chat briefly with Celia, the busy founder and operator. This hard working and lovely lady grew up in Honduras. In her 20’s, she made her way to Italy to work in Interior Design and then subsequently found herself in NOLA. She works with a graphic designer but otherwise operates as a one woman show! The dreamy, playful prints of the Nola Tawk designs draw you in but the quality and comfort hook you! The kitchen towels make great gifts and the baby pajamas are so snuggly soft.

Since a majority of the Nola Tawk products are made for children it’s HIGHLY worth noting that she’s the only local textile creator who uses water based inks and is GOTS certified. Water-based ink is more gentle on the environment than the predominantly used plastisol ink as it does not contain toxic chemicals (PVC, phthalates). GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. Pretty awesome!

Here’s how we’d play it Carnival style: Grab a King Cake Mug and pound the coffee for those hangover days. Then Second Line while cleaning up last night’s mess with this cute towel!
